Project Thoughts / Hacer CAN BİLGİN

With this project, activity sequences including the dimensions of students' well-being at school were implemented within the LifeComb conceptual framework in accordance with the principles of holistic school approach.

Founder Hacer CAN BİLGİN and her school fully participated in the project. As the director of the institution, they implemented this application in all classes.  The starting point of the project is the problems experienced at school. It has been observed that students do not know themselves, their sense of belonging to the school is weak, they do not eat enough nutrition and exercise, they do not know how to cope with stress, they are on the bullying and exposed side, and their friendship relations are weak. In this direction, project activities were designed to seek solutions to the problems of our students.

The project was accompanied by various schools, teachers and students from Turkey, Romania and Italy. The reflection of the project in different countries and schools shows that it is a solution to international educational problems.

In the project, activity sequences were created for the solution of each sub-problem. Firstly, ‘Who am I?’ activity was designed for students to recognise themselves. Then, with the ‘2 wrongs and 1 right’ drama game activity, it was ensured that they also recognised their friends. With these activities, self-cognitive and interpersonal communication intelligence areas were activated.

The students' sense of belonging to the school was aimed to be developed through classroom routines such as exercise and greeting. With all project partners, the day started actively by applying exercises in the online activity. With the greeting routine, students contacted their teachers and felt their awareness in the environment.

Regarding bullying, the concept of power in students was studied. Stories and animations were created with artificial intelligence based on the emphasis that real power is not bullying but helping with superior skills. An interactive study on bullying was carried out with the P4C / Philosophy for Children session. At the end of the session, ‘Don't be a bully, be ...’ slogans were combined to create a slogan tree and hung in the classrooms.

On coping with stress, students were asked what kind of situations they were stressed. Various techniques were taught on stress management. These were determined as turtle technique and 4-7-8 breathing technique. They were guided to find something relaxing for themselves while coping with stress. The cooperative game of making a tower out of a glass was played in order to have healthier relationships between friends. Success was achieved in the game depending on communication and acting together with the group. It was a study supporting interpersonal communication and co-operation.

In order to draw students' attention to healthy and adequate nutrition, the activity of creating a breakfast plate was carried out. Menus were created with the plates of all participants and ideas were shared. Breakfast was encouraged with an entertaining and impressive method.

Students were also enabled to meet with Artificial Intelligence. Students were informed about the functional use of artificial intelligence. With the artificial intelligence-supported song of the project, the concept of well-being at school started to be broadcast as a public service announcement. Viewing rates are relatively good.

The project is considered to be a good school application. It consists of flexible and consistent activities at the point of implementation. The opinions of all partners participating in the project are also positive. It is thought that this project can be disseminated in educational institutions.
